Modified Softball is Fun (by Chia Zhi Yi)

Mini Sports Day fell on 16 March this year. P1s were the first to play their competitive sport. They played 'throwing' games. P2s played a mixture of 'throwing' and 'leaping' games. P3s played a game called modified softball. It's like rounders. The objective for the batters is to reach 'home' base. The objective of the fielders is to prevent the batters from doing so. It takes two or three runs to reach 'home'.

Fielders have to get the ball, roll the ball and touch a base. A batter must be a fast runner and a good hitter as he needs to hit the ball hard to prevent the fielder from catching the ball before it touches the ground.

There were four teams. My team did not win a medal but at least it was fun! I enjoyed playing modified softball. Mr Yaidi, my P.E. teacher, will teach us more games so we can play two games on the next Sports Day. I hope I will get a medal then! Hopefully, I will become very good at the games.
