Mini Sports Day (by Katrina Palermo Silawan)

Our Mini Sports Day in school was really fun and exciting. All the students participated in the games. Some won medals and others won consolation prizes but it doesn't matter what prize we get. What counts is that everyone has tried his or her best and showed support for the games.

My team won the second prize in the modified softball game. I enjoyed the game. At first, I was hesitant to join in as I thought it was a tough game. When Mr Yaidi taught us how to play it, I began to love it. You just have to be quick and watchful so you can make a home run. My teammates and I were so happy to receive medals. This is something to cherish for a lifetime!

I played several games but I was still craving for more because, in the Philippines, our sports fest lasted three days! It was a big event in the school. Not only did we have a sports competition, we also had a playground demonstration. It's a dance and exercise competition. We wore our best costumes and danced to the groovy music.

Well, I think our Mini Sports Day in Endeavour Primary was successful. Everyone was happy because, aside from the games, all of us went home with a prize. It is good to see everyone gathered in our hall, working, playing and cheering as one team.

Modified Softball is Fun (by Chia Zhi Yi)

Mini Sports Day fell on 16 March this year. P1s were the first to play their competitive sport. They played 'throwing' games. P2s played a mixture of 'throwing' and 'leaping' games. P3s played a game called modified softball. It's like rounders. The objective for the batters is to reach 'home' base. The objective of the fielders is to prevent the batters from doing so. It takes two or three runs to reach 'home'.

Fielders have to get the ball, roll the ball and touch a base. A batter must be a fast runner and a good hitter as he needs to hit the ball hard to prevent the fielder from catching the ball before it touches the ground.

There were four teams. My team did not win a medal but at least it was fun! I enjoyed playing modified softball. Mr Yaidi, my P.E. teacher, will teach us more games so we can play two games on the next Sports Day. I hope I will get a medal then! Hopefully, I will become very good at the games.

Mini Sports Day (by Jiao Yi Ying)

Last Friday was our Mini Sports Day. We were excited to go to school. There were many parents. At ten o'clock, the fun began! Mrs Tay took us to the first game station. We used the 'underhand' throw to throw some bean bags onto some hoopla hoops. Each person has three chances. I did my best and got 4 points.

At the next game station, we used a racket to hit a ball over a net. I could do it easily.

The third game was like a bowling sport. We used a softball to hit some bottles. After that, the competitive games started. Although my team did not win a medal, we had done our best.

My Best Friend (by Shawn Pang)

Dominic and I are from Malaysia. We met on my first day in school, 3 March. I joined the school late and I didn't know anybody when I first came to school. Mrs Tay arranged for Dominic and I to sit together so that we can make friends with each other. I like drawing and so does Dominic. During recess, Dominic and I eat together and we enjoy playing games together. I hope we will be best friends forever.

What I want to be when I grow up (by Cheryl Lim)

When I grow up, I want to be either a lawyer, pianist or swimming coach. My Mum said that I will have to focus on my daily work and examinations first and not think too much. Vanessa also thought of what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said that it would be great if we had the chance to work together.

My only wish is to make a better life for my parents. Mrs Tay said that we cannot take our parents for granted. We have to learn to be grateful for the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the home we stay in, the pocket money we get and a school to study in. So I wish to show my appreciation for my parents. I want to work hard and not let them down.

Our School Library (by Sharfiqah)

My school library is clean and air-conditioned. The librarian assistant is Mdm Hamidah. If we want to borrow books from the library, we must have our student pass.

There are fiction and non-fiction books, Malay, Chinese and English books. I like to read ghost stories. I also like to read comics. There are many educational books too.

I hope that may pupils enjoy borrowing books from the library, just like I do.
