My First Week in Endeavour Primary (by Shawn Goh)

(written on 9 Jan 2008)

I was nervous on my first day in Endeavour Primary School. I did not know anyone. On top of that, I was asked to lead the school in reciting the national pledge. Later on in the day, I made some friends and I was happy.

My form teacher is Mrs Tay. She teaches me English, Mathematics, Art and Social Studies. During English lesson, we learnt how to write a thank-you letter. I wrote a letter to my father to thank him for the wonderful holidays. Then I posted the letter in the class postbox. Mrs Tay will post the letter for me and my father will probably receive the letter two days later. I am very excited because I wonder how my father will react after he reads the letter.

As for Mathematics, we were taught Number Patterns, Number Comparison, Place Value and Addition within ten thousand. I enjoyed the lessons very much and I found the Place Value Game fun.

Mr Lee is my science teacher. He is very strict. I have always found science to be an interesting subject and I started reading about SPACE when I was in K2. During my free time, I will flip through the pages of my 3A science textbook to find out what Mr Lee will be covering in his next lesson.

Chinese lesson is taught by Ms Tok. She will tell us to practise reading aloud from the textbook every day. A few days ago, she showed us how to create a mini handmade storybook. We could draw and write anything we like in it. It was really fun!

Yesterday, Mrs Tay told me I was chosen to be a prefect, I was thrilled. I have hoped be one ever since I was in primary one. In fact, I was selected as a prefect in primary two, but my mother rejected the offer, saying that it might affect my studies. I was very upset but now I am glad that my mother is supporting my decision to be a leader in the school.

I am very happy to be in Endeavour Primary School. I am looking forward to more excitement in my new school.
